• The district's school health services program supports your student's academic success by promoting health in the school setting. One way that we provide care for your student is by performing the health screenings as mandated by the State of New York.

*** Due to Covid-19 we will not be conducting vision or hearing examinations on all of the kindergarten, 1st grade, 3rd grade, and 5th grade as we have in the past. This year they will be completed on a case by case basis. If you feel your child is struggling and would like their vision or hearing checked please let me know.***

During the school year, the following screenings will be required or completed at school.

VISION - Distance acuity, near vision acuity, and color perception screening for all newly entering students and students in Kindergarten, Grades 1, 3, and 5.

HEARING - Hearing screening for all newly entering students and students in Kindergarten, Grades 1, 3, and 5.

SCOLIOSIS - Scoliosis (spinal curvature) screening for girls in Grade 5.

HEALTH APPRAISALS - A physical examination including Body Mass Index and Weight Status Category Information is required for all newly entering students and students in Kindergarten Grades 1, 3, and 5 within 30 days of entry. If this Health Appraisal is not recieved your child will be seen in the fall by the District Medical Director. Due to Covid-19 no physicals will be given at the school until April 2021 as per current state guidance.

DENTAL CERTIFICATES - A dental certificate is requested for all newly entering students and students in Kindergarten, Grades 1, 3, and 5 within 30 days of entry.

A letter will be sent home if there are any findings on a screening done at school that would cause concern or need medical follow-up. Please call the school's Health Office if you have any questions or concerns.
