Frequently Asked QuestionsThere are plenty of questions not addressed here, so please feel free to call, email, or stop by.Q: I'm kind of freaking out about this remote learning thing.A: That's not a question, but I feel you. This is tough! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to text, call, email, or whatever. Will figure this out!Q: How in the world do you say Javsicas?A: jav-SEE-kiss. Mr. J is fine, and parents can skip straight to David.Q: How do I know if my child is doing well?A: Every Friday, you will receive a "Weekly Data Update." Students are in the JALP in order to work on managing emotions and developing more constructive classroom behavior and habits. This weekly update provides data on progress in these areas. Grades are also sent out every 5 weeks. Please feel free to contact me at any time if you'd like more information or don't want to wait until the next update.Q: What is the data system in the letters?A: The data system is an attempt to express in numeric form how students are doing with mastering the basic habits a student needs to be successful in school. For example, if a student is on task 95% of the time (the second % on the letter), they are engaging in a habit that will help them to be successful. I think it is important to communicate this information as objectively as possible, and to use it to set goals for students, particularly goals related to increases in mainstreaming opportunities.
