Dear Parents,

As we navigate this extended school closing, I am providing each student with an assignment list to complete at home. I ask that each week day, each student does their best to complete these assignments:

• ½ hour of iReady Math (directions to access this in folder & on webpage)
• 10-20 minutes of Reading
• 2 pages in Lexia packet
• 1 page in reading comprehension packet
• 1 page of free writing in writing journal
• 1 page in our Water Cycle packet for science
• 1 page of “math morning work” packet

I have sent home much more work than what I have assigned to be completed each day! For any “extra” work that is completed, students will receive stickers on their homework chart. Each student’s folder is individualized to meet their skill set, abilities, and needs. Students should be able to complete most of this work independently but may need assistance for certain subjects. Please feel free to help your child with anything they may be struggling with. I do NOT want students becoming stressed over this work.

I will be assigning Math lessons on iReady, from my home computer. I will be able to check student progress and time spent on these lessons. For any student that does not have access to the internet, please complete 2 extra pages in the “math morning work” packet, each day. When we return to school, I will be checking reading time through the Reading Log in your child’s folder. Please feel free to log any other book (besides the ones I have sent home) on your child’s Reading Log. They will receive stickers on their chart for this as well. All other assignments will be checked upon our return to school.

If you have access to the internet and your child would like to use Lexia, I will accept 20 minutes of Lexia per day, in place of 2 pages in their Lexia packet. I will be able to check this progress and time from home.

I will be communicating with parents through email. When you receive this letter, please send me an email confirming that you have your child’s folder/assignments.
