Ways Parents Can Help Students Succeed!!
* Ensure that your child gets proper rest! Teens are growing and still require at least 8 hours of sleep every night.* Set regular bedtime hours and stick to them.* Turn off all electronics half an hour before bed (keep them out of sleeping areas)* Encourage your child to read before falling asleep.-
Make sure your child eats breakfast. You wouldn't go on a road trip with your gas tank on empty, would you? Don't send children to school hungry, their brain will not be ready to learn.
-
Stay connected. Show up at open house and parent/teacher conferences. Both you and the teacher have your child's best interest at heart. We are their cheerleaders!
-
Never stop being involved in what is going on in your child's life.
-
Keep the lines of communication open with your teenager. Ask, "Is there is anything I can do to help you?"
-
Be a great listener. Remember: "When EF Hutton speaks, people listen."
-
You are your child's first teacher. Be a great example for them.
-
Never stop reading with and to your child (no matter their age). This is a great time to re-visit some books from your youth, but with a different perspective.
