    Saugerties Central School District mandates:

     

    The district's school health services program supports your student's academic success by promoting health in the school setting. One way that we provide care for your student is by performing the health screenings as mandated by the State of New York.

    During the school year, the following screenings will be required or completed at school, if not completed by your primary care doctor. 

    VISION - Distance acuity for all newly entering student and students in Kindergarten, Grades 1,3,5,7 & 11. 

    HEARING - Hearing screening for all newly entering students and students in Kindergarten, Grades 1,3,5,7 & 11.

    SCOLIOSIS - Scoliosis (spinal curvature) screening for girls in grades 5 and 7, and boys in grade 9.

    HEALTH APPRAISALS - A physical examination including Body Mass Index and Weight Status Category Information is required for all newly entering students and students in Pre-K/Kindergarten, Grades 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11th within 30 days of entry. If a health appraisal is not received within 30 days of the first day of school, SHS, medical director, Dr. Maliha will complete this physical. Student will be given an appointment slip of date and time to get physical completed in the school's health office.

    DENTAL CERTIFICATES - A dental certificate is requested for all newly entering students and students in Kindergarten, Grades 2,4,7 & 10 within 30 days of entry.

    A letter will be sent home if there are any findings on the screening done at school that would cause concern or need medical follow-up. Please call the school's Health Office if you have any questions or concerns. Susan Carter, RN (845)247-6500, ext 1799.

    If we do not receive a health appraisal for your child in Pre K/Kindergarten, Grades 1,3,5,7,and 11.   She/he will be seen by the school physician at his next scheduled visit to their building.
