Course Syllabus
Global Studies 9 is the first year of two years of Global History and Geography. During the year we will cover a number of different units:

Belief Systems (Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam)

Classical Civilizations (Greece, Rome, India, China)

Medieval Europe (Feudalism, Crusades, Black Death, Commercial Revolution)

Byzantine Empire and Russia

Tang and Song Dynasties of China

Islamic Civilization
-
Early African Civilizations

Mongol Empire
-
Ottoman Empire

Empires of the Americas (Mayan, Aztec, Inca)

Transformation of Europe (Renaissance and Reformation, Age of Exploration, Imperialism, Scientific Revolution, Age of Absolutism)
As we study the different units, we will focus on enduring issues; important topics for discussion which have recurred throughout history over time. They include conflict, power, inequality, impacts of innovation, interconnectedness, ideas and beliefs, environmental impacts, and population growth.
