ECONOMICS IS A ONE SEMESTER COURSE, WHICH IS REQUIRED FOR GRADUATION.

The purpose of the course is to:

    1.     Develop knowledge of basic economic concepts and different economic systems.
    2.     Identify the role individuals, businesses and government play in the economy.
    3.     Familiarize students with the stock market, finances, importance of saving/investing and how the status of the economy has a direct effect on our lives.

    WHAT YOU NEED:

    1.   A three ring binder 1.5” thick with loose leaf paper.
    2.   Pens(blue or black ink)
    3.   Google account/Schoology account
    4.   Calculator

    ASSIGNMENTS/QUIZZES:

All assignments/quizzes are posted on the board and sent out through REMIND at the beginning of the week.  Some assignments will need to be handed in at the beginning of class on the day they are due.  Others may need to be submitted online by a designated time.  Assignment grades are based on quality and completeness.  Assignments turned in late without an acceptable excuse are never graded higher than a 75.

There will be assignments that you will be expected to complete during class that will be graded. Some in class activities cannot be made up due to absence and will result in no grade being assigned.

Quiz corrections will be offered, but will need to be completed within a week after the quiz was taken and with me either during study hall or 9th period.  STUDENTS WILL BE PROVIDED ACCESS TO VIEW THEIR GRADES THROUGH SCHOOLOGY.  IT IS ALSO STRONGLY ENCOURAGED THAT YOU UTILIZE THE REMIND TEXT/ EMAIL.

    MAKE-UP WORK:

It is your RESPONSIBILITY to find out what work you missed after being absent from school.  Please check the wall rack regularly for necessary papers that were distributed and ask if anything was collected.  Assignments and quizzes must be made up within 5 days of the absence.  To avoid loss of credit it is important to write “absent” at the top of your paper.

    PROJECTS:

They will vary in length, so the time allotted will be at my discretion and will be announced when the project is introduced. You have 5 school days after the project was due to turn it in, each day late results in the loss of 10 points.  Failing to complete projects will result in failure of the course.

IF YOU ARE ABSENT FROM CLASS, BUT IN SCHOOL ON THE DAY AN ASSIGNMENT OR PROJECT IS DUE, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR TURNING IT IN OR IT WILL BE COUNTED AS LATE OR NOT ACCEPTED!

    Electronic Submission of Work:

I will accept work sent by email to my school account (on front page).  HOWEVER: the student accepts ALL responsibility for assignments turned in using e-mail. Most electronic assignments will be completed using SCHOOLOGY.

    1. The assignment is on-time/late based upon my emails/Schoology timestamp.
    2. “Technology Excuses” (wrong address, computer crashed, loss of power, the printer does not

work, etc.)will not be accepted. Don’t procrastinate!!

    CHEATING/PLAGIARISM:

Any assignment, project or quiz in which a student has plagiarized work, copied another student’s assignment ( in which case both students will receive a zero) or attempted to cheat on a quiz, will result in an immediate zero.

    PARTICIPATION/PREPAREDNESS:

Attendance and participation in class discussions and activities will greatly assist in your success in this class.  Your participation grade will be assigned based on your involvement (which means you must be present), answering DO NOW questions and placing your phone in the cell phone holder. Each is worth a +1 for the day, for a total of +3 each day.

If you do not put your cell phone in the holder, then it should be out of sight.  If it is not, you will receive -1 for the day.

    CUTTING CLASS

Cutting class results in a zero for whatever work is scheduled to be completed or due for class that day.
