In Person Learning:
Grading:
-You will be able to earn 10 points per class period. Each day you will be evaluated for the class based on 3 criteria which are Attitude (2), Effort & Participation (7) and Punctuality (1).
-Attendance will be taken using attendance cards. Upon entering the gym, students will find their card and turn it in to their teacher in order to be marked present for class.
-Physical Education is a semester class. You will receive a final grade in both January and June. NYS requires that you have 2 credits of Physical Education to graduate. You can recieve 1/4 credits each semester. If you fail a semester, you will then be doubled up the following semester.
Being Unprepared:
-This is where you do not bring your clothes for class.
-After the 3rd time your teacher will write you a referral.
-Each time you are unprepared for class, you will receive 0 points for that day. 4 or more times unprepared for class, you will automatically fail.
-An unprepared may be made up. However, when making up an unprepared, you will only be allowed to earn partial credit (7 points at most) for that class. The unprepared class can only be made up within the same unit in which the unprepared occured (ex. if you were unprepared during the track unit, you would have to make it up before the track unit is over). This will also be limited to 3 times per quarter.
Make-ups:
-Absences need to be made-up. You can come in during 9th period, study hall or lunch. If you make-up a class during your lunch period, you will have time at the end to go to the cafeteria and get lunch.
-Limit of 1 make-up per day (periods 1-8).
Medical Conditions:
-If you have a doctor's note, it must be brought to the nurse's office. They will then give you a copy to give to us. Do not bring us a note without bringing it to the nurse first.
-Parents may write you a note if you are not feeling well, but it will only be good for 1 class. If you need to sit out longer than 1 class, a doctor's note will be required. A class that is missed with a parents note will be required to be made up (same as an absence).
-A doctor's note will excuse you from clas, but we may have you participate in class in other ways (score keeper, helping with equipment, recording scores) to receive credit for the class. If there is no way to incorporate you into the class, then a written assignment will be assigned.
Appropriate Clothing:
-Clothing needs to be different from what was worn to school that day.
-Sneaker must be tied.
-T-shirts- no tank top of cut offs.
-Must follow dress code.
Jewelry:
-Jewelry may not be worn in class for safety reasons.
-You may give it to your teacher to be locked up for safe keeping.
Lockers:
-Lockers are for athlets only, currently on a sports team. If on a sports team, you may bring in a lock and sign out a locker with a Physical Education teacher. The lock may remain on for the entire season and must be removed at the end of the season. Lockers will be cleaned out in between seasons.
-These lockers are not school lockers. Do not leave your books and school supplies in your sports locker. You will not be permitted into the locker room once class has begun.
Student Athletes:
-Student athletes must participate in physical education in order to participate in their game or practice that day.
