• The following information will help you and I navigate the school year:

    •  At the beginning of every school year I explain to my students that they are two years away from college, a trade school, or the work force. Having completed grades 9 and 10, they should be aware of what is required of them to pass their classes. Students should be used to the expectations of a high school student by 11th grade. As 11th graders, students should be actively working at demonstrating the responsibility that is required of them as graduates of high school.

    • I strive to clarrify and re-teach content, assist with assignments/projects, prepare for tests/quizzes, inform students of assignments they owe, and make myself available outside of school hours to assist students with understanding content and completing or catching up on assignments. Students need to show the effort required to be successful.

    • Students are expected to know their assignments and due dates. This can be accomplished by one or more of the following ways:
      • Google Classroom, Schoology, etc.
      • Teacher website
      • Remind app
      • Taking a picture (weekly) of assignments that are written down on a classroom white board
      • Maintaining an assignment notebook

    • Many students go from having Resource class everyday in 10th grade to every other day in 11th grade or not having a Resource class at all. This can be a change in routine that many students struggle with initially. Students who have a Resource class every other day or no Resource class at all must complete assignments outside of the regular school day.

    • Students should be active participants in the organizational process in 11th grade. Students should be organizing their notebooks either at home or after school; particularly students with an every-other-day Resource class or those students who do not have a Resource class. It is important that the time we have in Resource class is being used for academic purposes. If a student is up to date with all assignments, then they are free to organize their materials.

    • Be on the lookout for progress reports and report cards. If you are not receiving these documents every five weeks please contact me and I will get them to you.
